What is a Community Garden?

A community garden is a gardening space shared by members of the community, who pay a membership fee to be able to garden there. Garden members are responsible for planting, watering and maintaining their assigned plot.

Most garden members grow food for their families.

Sugar House Community Garden
is a group of citizen volunteers who created a garden in the Fairmont Park Tennis Courts, located at 2225 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Sugar House Community Garden is incorporated as a nonprofit in the state of Utah.

The garden is a raised bed garden placed directly on the cement tennis courts. Lowe’s Home Improvement stores sponsored our first 46 beds, and the remaining 30 have been built with gardener funds. All of the beds were quickly rented out for the 2011 growing season.
